TRAINING + TRUSTING AFTER 40

Today I'm sharing a super effective way to see results + approach your fitness into your 40's…

This concept will seem strange at first, because what worked in your 20's and 30's won't anymore.

But that doesn't mean there isn't a way. In fact, you can absolutely move well, look + feel great and see AMAZING results! It's just that the way there requires a more intelligent + intuitive way of working out.

When I tell my clients that less is more and that in order to :

  • Balance hormones

  • Prevent injury or re injury

  • Get results without massive calorie restriction

They are going to have to essentially "re learn" the process…and that can feel daunting. 

There is a lot of science behind it all, for example the intensity of your workout matters. Even timing it with your cycle matters...

At first, these tweaks seem hard to believe. After all, for the first 20-35 years of life, lots of grueling cardio, calorie restrictions, and hard-core workouts are effective at producing results.

Yet, when we're not following the body’s natural system, this can lead us straight into adrenal fatigue…gaining weight or not seeing results etc.

Here's the thing, 

What used to work for you, no longer will, in fact you can stall + reverse progress.

  • Hard workouts will make you gain weight

  • Calorie restriction will slow your metabolism and stall weight loss…leading to weight gain

  • Long cardio sessions will deplete your body further…leading to even more weight gain

And that’s where the frustration and feelings of failure really begin to take over.

A BLESSING IN DISGUISE

But there's a super positive shift that most people miss in this next chapter.

And it's interesting because most KNOW + FEEL intuitively that they want to "get there" a different way…

  • Most are re aligning work or purpose

  • Relationships are being realigned or redefined

  • Family + community is taking on different meanings too

There's a lot that is really asking to be "re shaped". So instead of getting frustrated that our old, outdated methods won’t allow us to achieve our body goals, we have the opportunity to lean into something new…

We lean into the whisper.

That whisper is our bodies innate wisdom speaking through us…and she knows what she really needs from you to feel supported, free, and strong.

And it doesn’t look anything similar to the way you were training before…

…lean into that.

We begin to deepen trust and work with our bodies instead of punishing, restricting, and stressing them. This shift inevitably sparks curiosity, enthusiasm, and positive motivation...making space for the outcomes we desire to show up effortlessly.

We begin to ditch what's not working or serving us (especially with regard to routines, modalities and training styles) and trust that our system is intelligently designed to respond with "results" when it's getting what it wants, needs, and asks for.

I teach this inside my programs and custom workouts. And this is why I'm a huge advocate of customized programs. Your body has super specific needs to get optimal results.
