Having a workout routine isn’t enough anymore, and this goes for any age not seeing the results. Especially if you’re struggling with chronic pain, old sports injuries, or pre / post surgery…
I know – that’s probably not what you wanted to hear.
It’s true- even though that’s where most people turn these days to reduce stress and get into that well-BEING and living.
I mean that’s even why I got into teaching Pilates after my dance career…I had chronic pain and I thought it would be enough…
But the truth is, it’s not.
Especially if you’re working against your body in terms of alignment, stress hormones, and yes…often times anger or sadness around being told,
You won’t be able to do your favorite sport anymore…
You can’t travel….say goodbye to those romantic walks in Rome with your sweetie…
You have to be careful with your body around activities that make you feel free and bring you so much joy…
I know we’ve gone over this before, but because it’s been a question I’ve been getting a lot lately, I feel it’s important to share—
When your body is working from :
A weakened foundation (baseline)
Hormones are out of balance, giving you that "wired and tired" feel
You're in chronic pain
Nervous system is constantly feeling under attack
Sleep is intermittent or non-existent
Hitting your mat a few times a week just isn’t enough to actually REGAIN functionality let alone the incredible results you once enjoyed…
In fact, what I see in studio and when clients start with me in programs, is that their fitness routine is actually damaging,
Because to constantly push, pull, demand, expect, drain and ignore what’s really going on in and through your body…
Not only do the results stop…but you can actually gain more weight or worsen the underlying issues…then the stress mixes with feelings of complete frustration and lots of times anger…
Especially when you’re trying so dang hard.
So if you're nodding your head and you feel like :
I REALLY want to lose 15-30 pounds and turn that spare tire into washboard abs
I know I need to "rest, repair, and rebuild" but I just want to sweat + feel free in my body
I want my sexy lean body back, but I also want to achieve that in a healthy, happy way...but I'm getting impatient!
And like so many others who wonder,
“Gosh, will I ever feel free in my body again and not have to be so careful?!”

"Are you serious, I’m not going to be able to hike with my hubby like I used to?!”
It's so important to know that you have a choice. You can stay living inside the "limitations lifestyle reality," or find ways to rebuild your lifestyle into something even better…

So how can you shift in the right direction if you feel stuck right now?
Feel Like You’re On Edge?
This could be a pain response, manage your chronic pain with self-compassion, and be gentle with your expectations. *Make sure you’re managing with a healthy- supportive tool and not just numbing out with Netflix or food, then feeling guilty for staying up too late
Got Too Much On Your Plate?
Don’t feel guilty for carving out "you" time. You’ve got to fill your own cup up first before caring for everyone else…try to get to a calm state before you workout to reduce cortisol
Want To See Better Results In Fat Loss And Leaning Out?
Focus on getting back to baseline, create workouts and routines that build on your strength, establish the moves that support injuries and know that rehab or that injury doesn’t mean one day you can’t out hike your significant other. ;-)
Remember you don't have to do this alone, what's holding you back today isn't set in stone, many clients are where you are right now...living a totally expanded experience...you can too.
