The results are in!
Snoop wins by a landslide!
The effects of sitting causes the front of the body to get tight while the back of the body grows weak and painful. To combat this, people are “poppin’ it like it’s hot”…
If you find that after sitting all day, your wild dance moves leave you with a back ache in the morning, keep reading…
There’s a simple move that will simultaneously strengthen the back of your body while stretch open the front.
This Simple Move Has You Covered
First, let’s identify what’s going wrong, so we can get it right.
Notice the deep curve in the low back (green arrow)
This deep curve in the low back causes the ribs to protrude up to the ceiling (purple arrow)
The deep curve also causes the butt to sink down towards the mat; her lower back muscles are doing what her butt muscles need to be doing
In this example, Alex is using her lower back to lift into the position.
The result: She feels a pinching in her lower back.
Her butt muscles drive the hips towards the ceiling, instead of her back muscles (purple arrow)
Her ribs pull down towards the floor (purple arrow)
Her lower back is long and she is reaching her tailbone towards her knees
The front of her body is straight and connected. She feels her abs working.
A few minor corrections and, Voila!, Alex’s form improves and her back pain disappears.
What Do You Struggle With?
Strengthening the back of the body while stretching open the front is a MUST to counter the long-term effects of sitting.
But I’m curious…where do you struggle most?
Would you identify your body as tight, weak, or both? Are you suffering with daily aches and pains due to long hours of sitting?
