I simply cannot let International Women’s Day pass without giving a MAJOR shoutout to that gorgeous woman down in front with the dark hair!
Suzanne was my dance teacher growing up and remains a dear friend of mine to this day.
She creates a culture for young girls to grow into empowered women. She accomplishes this through the vehicle of dance.
She taught us so much about life.
How to be good to ourselves
To admire and care for one another
To be comfortable in our bodies
Recognize and develop our worth beyond our looks
She was always inspiring us to own who we are as women!
FRIENDSHIP
We really all loved one another and have a deep bond of friendship that’s still alive and well today.
I’m reminded of this one time. Truly, one time where gossip took root and started to spread like an infection amongst us.
We started to fight, backbite, and gossip.
She sat us all down (I think there was 30 or 40 of us) and said,
“No more. We resolve this right here, tonight.”
It was a beautiful experience that ended in tears and hugs and taught me to never to compete with other women.
